Change the world...

Amazing Tibetan Monk Chanting with Guided Meditation by Qigong Master Chunyin Lin

Although I posted this miraculous guided meditation with Tibetan Monk chanting a few months ago, I had a few requests to repost it with a different post heading to make it easier to find, so here it is!

This meditation includes a three minute introduction. Once you have practiced this meditation a few times, you have the option of skipping the introduction but still get the maximum benefit of this transformational meditative practice. Youtube usually includes two ads, so have the mute and skip button at the ready so the ads do not interfere with your meditation. This clip was originally created for the Chinese New Year, but it does not make this meditation any less relevant now, as this guided meditation is about starting afresh, and ideally, starting afresh needs to be practiced daily, or even minute by minute as in the practice of mindfulness - total immersion in the eternal minute for centreing, peace and healing.

Though the clip is 17 minutes in duration, the guided meditation itself, runs for only 14 minutes, short enough to practice regularly, even if you have a busy schedule. Qigong Master Chunyi Lin provides wonderful guidance, leading the listener through removing energetic, emotional and mental blockages; drawing in protection; sending healing to loved ones, our planet and all other life; and rebalancing and restoring our bodies and heightening our energies for spiritual growth, inner peace and joy.

I recommend practicing this meditation every day, in the early part of the day (not necessarily first thing, especially if you are feeling sleepy). If you practice this transformational and healing exercise daily over a period of four weeks or more, it will make a noticeable, positive impact on your mind, body and spirit.

Haunting and spectacular angelic music...

"The Host of the Seraphim" by the Dead Can Dance, sung by the extraordinary Lisa Gerrard, was first released in 1988. I first heard this song as part of the soundtrack to the spiritual-environmental film "Baraka". This song explores the complete range of human emotions and experiences, from exaltation to despair, self-exploration to the miracle of existence. The Seraphim is a celestial being, serpentine and angelic. A high vibrational song perfect for meditative and contemplative practice.

Happy Year of the Wood Dragon!

Year of the Dragon - Forecast

What may have seemed impossible or unattainable may become a reality this year. A Dragon year is a time for conquering adversity for anyone willing to stand their ground and set healthy boundaries. It is year for courage and pushing through the obstacles to get the best outcome. There may be risks involved but with a sensible strategy, good advice, determination and persistence, you will make important discoveries and take important steps in the direction of your dreams. A year of prosperity, the wood dragon is a year in which hard work and a strong, assertive approach will bring opportunities for progress and success, positive options to improve your work life, recognition, and improved financial rewards for your efforts.

The sign of the Dragon is associated with the colour yellow which was the imperial colour of China, the colour reserved for the Emperor. Dragon's Yellow is also linked with the qualities of progress, fame and achievement; the harmonious balance of yin and yang; the direction of east-south-east; the early hours of the day and the end of spring. The wood element is linked to the colour green which expresses new growth, rebirth, enthusiasm, connection to nature, fresh ideas and exciting new ventures.

In Chinese astrology the dragon is respected and admired and holds special significance. More than 4,000 years ago, there were two large tribes and many smaller tribes in China. The tribes had animals as emblems. The two large tribes unified and chose the dragon as their symbol. In fact, the Han Chinese still call themselves the descendants of the Dragon. In Chinese astrology the dragon was seen as a powerful almighty king because it was made up of different parts of animals such as a tiger, fish, snake and an eagle. The Chinese dragon was not seen as a threatening or evil but a symbol of power, superiority and leadership.

The dragon symbol is associatd with power and wisdom. In Chinese astrology a dragon person is considered powerful and wise, people who stand out, demanding attention and respect.

In Chinese astrology, those born under the dragon sign are seen as "doers" – achieving success and power by getting things done. A dragon can breathe out fire so the person born in the Chinese Year of the Dragon may be a hothead so watch out if you make them angry! However, many are compassionate, despite having a have a sharp tongue. They are assertive and are capable of confronting others if necessary but reach their "soft heart" and they are worthwhile allies.

Characteristics of people born in the Year of the Dragon: - Innovative, enterprising, self-assured, brave, passionate, conceited, and quick-tempered. Dragons are the free spirits of the Chinese Zodiac with a creative spark ready to flame into life. They need to feel free to follow their heart and spirit but they also enjoy spending time alone in their sacred space to contemplate, restore and heal.

The Dragon is a beautiful creature, colourful and flamboyant. An extroverted bundle of energy, gifted and irrepressible. Everything Dragons do is on a grand scale - big ideas and extreme ambitions, but this expression is not meant for show. They are confident and fearless in the face of challenge, and almost always successful.

People born in the Year of the Dragon usually make it to the top. But, they must be aware of that too much enthusiasm can leave them tired and unfulfilled. Their personalities give them the ability to attract friends, but they can be rather solitary people at heart. While Dragons frequently help others, rarely will they ask for help. Others are attracted to Dragons, especially their colourful personalities, but deep down, Dragons prefer to be alone. Perhaps that is because they’re most successful when working alone. Their preference to be by themselves can come across as arrogance or conceitedness, but these qualities aren’t applicable. Their self-sufficiency can mean that they have no need for close bonds with other people. They need time to themselves. Dragons will give into love, but won’t give up their independence. Their partners need to be tough-skinned. Dragons enjoy others who are intriguing, and still have the potential to commit to a relationship if they feel the time is right.

Dragon people tend to take thrilling risks, and burn the candle at both ends so they are fortunate to be blessed with good health. However, they can suffer bad health as a result of excess stress. Symptoms of their personalities often stem from emotional outbursts and can range from tension headaches to depression to hypertension. They can remedy these problems by maintaining their cool, implementing a routine in their daily lives, and practice meditation, Qigong, Tai Chi or Yoga that soothe the mind and spirit as well as tone the body.

The Dragon is not the most domesticated of the Animal signs, so people born in the Year of the Dragon prefer enjoying outdoor activities rather than staying at home. They are extroverts who have a deep love for nature. Their homes should be as large and majestic as their personalities, providing space for the fiery temperament or emotional eruptions that accompany their character. They have true and sincere love, which comes from the depths of their hearts.

Dragons are not a fan of rules and regulations. Restrictions blow out the creative spark. Dragons must be free and uninhibited.

In careers, Dragons prefer leading to being led. Jobs that allow them to express their creativity are good choices. Some good careers include: inventor, manager, computer analyst, lawyer, engineer, architect, broker, and sales person. Dragon people are quite imaginative, always able to see new paths and will take a radical approach. They have innate explorative spirit and try to succeed at one stroke. They are very adaptable and are fit for various occupations, especially if those occupations allow them to take the limelight. They work hard, but would rather give orders than receive them. They should avoid jobs that encompass too much routine, and should move toward jobs in which their self-reliance can be an asset.

People born in the Year of the Dragon like to spend money, and tend to be charitable, to themselves as well as with others. Many Dragon people will take big chances with their finances. It is very rare that they remain poor for long. They will always be straightforward in financial dealings.

Dragons and the Five Elements

The Dragon personality The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend. A symbol of good fortune and sign of intense power, the Oriental Dragon is regarded as a divine beast - the reverse of the malicious monster that Western mythology said needed to be found and slayed. In Eastern philosophy, the Dragon is said to be a deliverer of good fortune and a master of authority. Therefore, those people born in Dragon years are honoured and respected.

Wood Dragons – 2024, 1964

Wood Dragons also are willing to entertain the opinions of others. Their artistic side is strong, and Wood Dragons enjoy being creative. They get along with others, but will always be the dominating force. Questioning and liberal, Wood Dragons enjoy talking about original ideas and are open to other points of view. They are innovative, imaginative practical and appreciate art in each of its forms. Generally less pretentious than other Dragons, Wood Dragons have an ability to get along with other people. They have the essentials to build a prosperous and happy life for themselves. Still, Wood Dragons are outspoken and at times a bit pushy to quell everyone, even in the most friendly quarrel. Most congenial partners and business associates - Water Roosters and Metal Oxen.

Metal Dragons – Years 1940 and 2000

Metal strengthens this already strong sign. Metal They enjoy the company of those who feel mighty enough to challenge their beliefs. They’re true leaders and usually find plenty of others willing to follow. Truthful but extreme, courageous but unyielding, Metal Dragons have a strength similar to the Dragon fire. Metal Dragons succeed through determination and will fight for what they believe in. They are mighty and respect people who stand up to them. In troubled times, these Dragons make great allies, but become ferocious challengers. Metal Dragons can often calm others through their forceful personalities. They seek action, and things are never better than when they are defending a thought or belief about which they have complete faith. Metal Dragons like to lead, and have an affect that makes others want to follow them. Yet even if they attract no support they will fight alone. Most congenial partners and business associates – Earth Snakes and Fire Tigers

Water Dragons – Years 1952 and 2012

Water has a calming effect on the Dragon's fearless temperament. Water allows the Dragon to re-direct its enthusiasm, and makes them more perceptive of others and see things from other points of view. They don’t have the need to always be right. Their decisions, if well-researched, are usually better since they allow other’s to become involved. These Dragons are better equipped to take a step back to re-evaluate a situation because they understand the art of patience and do not desire the spotlight like other Dragons. Therefore, they make smart decisions and are able to see eye-to-eye with other people. However, their actions can go wrong if they do not research or if they do not finish one project before starting another. Most congenial partners and business associates - Metal Monkeys and Earth Sheep.

Fire Dragons – 1916 and 1976

The Fire Dragon is a powerful force to be reckoned with. This is a Dragon doubled! The Fire Dragon can move from calm and collected to combustible in a matter of seconds. In some ways the Fire Dragon is his or her own worst enemy. These Dragons cannot help feeling they are valuable and all-knowing. When they are right their vehemence and vigor is an asset to the cause, and though they value objectivity, they do not always employ the best decision-making measures, and sometimes jump to the wrong conclusion. They also suffer from recklessness and quick tempers. Yet, when they do keep their temper, emotions, and rivalling spirit under control, they emanate a commanding influence on other people. Fire Dragons need to slow down and keep their tempers in check as that’s when they’re best. Most congenial partners and business associates - Wood Rats and Water Rabbits

Earth Dragons – Years 1928 and 1988

More rooted in the ground, Earth Dragons make better decisions because they act more rationally. Earth Dragons make great managers because they are practical, level-headed and demonstrate a knack for organizing. and able to control their behaviours. They’re more supportive of others, but still have the need to dictate and be admired, but they are affable, congenial and supportive. Compared to other Dragons, Earth Dragons are less likely to breathe fire at the least irritation. They will work diligently to complete their life goals. The Earth element adds a greater portion of self-control to the Dragon's personality and usually the Earth Dragon is deserving of the respect he or she desires. These Dragons take their life and romantic responsibilities quite seriously. Most congenial partners and business associates - Fire Dragons and Wood Horses.
