Did Einstein really say this?!

"Everything is energy and that's all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics." This quote has been attributed to Albert Einstein; but although he has said many wise things, yes, even quotes that could be classed as spiritual, this particular quote does not appear to be authored by Einstein. Firstly, the way these sentences are structured are dissimilar to the way Einstein was known to express himself. Secondly, at no point in Einstein's life did he assert the "law of attraction" as a principle of physics. This quote was obviously written by someone with new age beliefs using Albert Einstein to back their ideology. Although I am a spiritual counsellor and intuitive, I have also had a keen interest in science. Both spirituality and science represent humankind's search for truth. Two differing perspectives that provide wonderful insights into the nature of existence. There is no doubt that both spirituality and science share the view that everything is energy, or should I say, truth that everything is energy; but it is unfortunate that someone would twist or manufacture a quote in Albert Einstein's name to further their own cause/beliefs. Einstein said enough wise things that there is no need to make up our own. Integrity is more important than a set of beliefs, whether it be scientific or spiritual.

  3. Thank you for your post, Victoria!
Yes, there are a lot of quotes floating about the internet that are forged.
It is a wonderful thing when people come up with their own personal insights; but when they attach a famous person's name to their words to give them credibility, that is a real shame. Luckily there are plenty of fabulous, genuine, wise quotes out there to appreciate and inspire! - Sarina

  7. In some ways either truly quoted by Einstein or not there is truth in that statement. Example: Big Diet companies and Pharmaceuticals would paint a version of a "reality" in the media to you and you can choose to believe that reality or not. Does not Ford paint the reality that if you Drive a Lincoln town car you will attract beautiful women? If you look at our world like its a Matrix as in the movie, using discernment you can view it with a different set of eyes. Discerning Eyes. Our entire universe operates on Vibrations. Our own bodies are tuned by the vibrations of our universe from our thalimus in our brains. That is how we designed the power supply for computers fashioned after our marvelous bodies. We are constantly forming our realities daily as we watch TV, listen to Radio and form our own ideas.

  8. Thank you for your comment, WebISPGuy. Very interesting perspective on this topic, and your addition to this debate is definitely appreciated. The law of attraction is a fascinating topic, and my original post was not to dispute the concept, but to convey the fact that this quote is not by Albert Einstein. Whatever we believe, whether it is correct or not, it is not an ethical approach to attach a famous, respected person's name in order to support our argument for our understanding of truth. Ultimately, it is not our concepts and musings on the philosophy of existence that is the most important, but our practice of our ethics and morality. - Sarina

  9. I don't know if Albert Einstein qouted this or not. If he did, none of us was there. This I know and knowing is a certainty. The qoute is true in respect to whoever quoted it. Can it be truly said by any of us that is here now that he didn't state this. I think not! We are all conneceted to each other by the Creative Source that created us all. It is written in scripture; "Let the same mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus, being made in the form of a man thought it not robbery to be equal with GOD." Yet how many times have I heard people say, "We can't be like Jesus", or "Nobody's perfect." Yet it is also written: "Be perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect." If Christ said it can be done, then it must be attainable. We tend to dissociated ourselves from each other calling for more seperation. The bottom line is we're all connected and whoever quoted it in no wise felt connected to this man. With all due respect.

    1. How easily we debunk quotes by others, yet take verbatum those attributed to Jesus ! How human of us.

    3. To be accurate, the rest of the verse referred to above, states that Jesus, though he was God, did not think equality with God as something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. With all due respect, the point of this verse isn't that I should have the same mind as Jesus that I am equal to God, but that I should have the same mind to be a servant...that's the same mind this verse is talking about.

  10. Thank you, Eugene, I appreciate your contribution and your point of view. There is no doubt this quote is not by Albert Einstein. He died many years ago and I have been a student of his writings, and what has been written about him, since I was very young, and this quote falsely attributed to him, only appeared on the internet in the last year. There are many quotes floating around the web that have been created in order to promote various people's belief systems. Just the other day I saw a "quote from Mother Teresa" about the cosmos, which again, is obviously not a genuine quote. If you can find any hard copy books based on the genuine writings of Albert Einstein that include the quote on which I have based this post, please let me know because I would be most interested to read it. The original post was not to dispute the fact that all life and energy is connected. Science, ecology, and spirituality is all based upon the premise that everything is connected and a concept to which I also adhere. I also believe we should strive to better ourselves, and having a wonderful role model, such as you do in Jesus, is admirable. We may not be perfect, but if we do not strive to become better, how will we ever become so? Thanks again for adding to this debate. - Sarina

  11. I thought that it might be appropriate that I add another genuine, inspirational quote by Albert Einstein, this time one that focuses on the topic of connectedness. - "A human being is a part of the whole called by us - universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." - Albert Einstein

  12. Not everything is energy. Consciousness is not energy: "let's just realize the simple fact that all forms of energy are spread out in space. Consciousness, however, doesn't hang out in any kind of space. You can't see it, touch it, hear it, smell or taste it. It's just not that kind of thing. In fact it's not any kind of thing." ~ Christian de Quincey said that, and I totally agree with him. We cannot use the language of physics to describe consciousness period.

    1. Thank you for your comments, Joko. It really depends on what you consider consciousness. If you are talking about the brain, the brain operates, not only by means of the blood coursing through the circulatory system, but also by means of the electromagnetic impulses (or energy) that fires up the synapses, or connections, of the brain. Even the brain itself, and all physical matter, is made from atoms which is made of electrical particles - electrons, neutrons and the nucleus. If your meaning of consciousness is our individual persona, the thinking aspect of our being, than we are talking about the energetic essence that animates our body, albeit temporarily in the physical state. When someone experiences a near-death or out-of-body episodes (a life-changing episode which I have also experienced), our essence or consciousness (or spirit) operates outside the corporeal or physical shell. Our essence is an electrical energy. And if we define our thoughts as not having energy, than the book by renowned scientist Dr Daryl Reanney, "The Death of Forever" is highly informative, revealing scientific studies based on protons and thoughts, and how thoughts are never lost, but energy imprinted on the very fabric of existence. Energy is space in its entirety, as dark matter which constitutes the largest part of the known universe, is also energy, and interestingly enough, ties in with the topic of Albert Einstein. The existence of the energy of dark matter is integral to confirming the validity of Albert Einstein's equation of relativity E(energy) + M (Mass) C2 (squared)....Everything is energy.

  13. I actually think I know where this quote comes from. It comes from a channelled entity named Bashar... Every word after the first few words are directly his.

  15. Whatever the source of this quote, perhaps it may be possible to agree, it was not Einstein who said this. He was very wise, as well as knowledgeable; known for his genuine quotes on science, matter, energy, even intuition, mystery, and imagination, but not for quotes supporting the "law of attraction" in its new age version.

  16. S.D., Forgive my simple and far too brief comment... But none of us struggling humans can even begin to grasp the realizations of what we are very wisely looking into, atoms, energy and such... I am "not" into any religion, or any religious followings, cults or ego groups.. But, for anyone wishing to find the simple(?) explanations of energy and light.. let it suffice to say we gringo Westerners are light years behind in our total blindness to realities that have been known for countless centuries by wise people of our past... Though not new, a spiritual teacher of this early century, around the 1930's maybe, said, "everything is energy and atoms.." and much, much more... Though a religious Master, Paramahansa Yogananda, was also a worldly historian of many Eastern religious truths.. And, please forget any religious group connotations associated with this amazing Master... As with all wise men, his teaching have been sidetracked, and used/manipulated by many others.. Some worthwhile, and some for greedy profit... But, if you are really serious, and not merely starting your own "cult," with I believe you are not.. Then I suggest you find a copy of Autobiography of a Yogi.. Then, to keep it simple, just look in the "back pages index" and take the short time needed to merely read anything that is under the listing of atom, "anu," and atomic theory... Just these very few reference pages will open doors you never knew existed into this thousand year old topic.. as usual, by wise men/women who didn't care about ego and such, but merely wrote of observances that have always been here, and always will... And, for any serious searchers.. Remember, we need leave our personal egos, at home, under the bed, or in a closet when you read such truths which put us all "in our place," but, once realized, so also on a level with the very Gods, and/or Creators of everything.. and without all that "holier than thou" garbage, so prevalent today... This stuff is WAY beyond religion.. and you will even see where Einstein himself started his paths of study... it is a thick book, so just find a copy in a library or a bookstore and spend a mere half hour, just on these few, back paged, indexed references under atom... And, I don't mean to be rude, but I can't comment any more... It is too mind expanding to merely discuss.. It really is a personal experience for each to "get lost in," in private... We in tis age are mere children to what some ancient ones knew and quite clearly prove to any willing to read... anything else is mere egotistical child's play, and not worth even climbing into a nice sandbox, even with good friends to read... But, often, after reading these realities, we find this world is a wonderful sandbox, full of wonders beyond our beliefs and widest dreams ~ yes, sometimes WAY TOO beautiful to even grasp the simplicity of it all.. With all due respect, you will not be sorry, and walk away living in a much more expansive and exciting Universe than you ever could have imagined...and So SIMPLE, as all GOOD things should be...

    1. Thank L.Robin for your wonderful and thorough comment. I have read a number of books by Paramahansa Yogananda (books which still take pride of place in my personal and professional library) and I agree that he was very wise and spiritually-aware man. I like to read widely, along with my regular practice in yoga, meditation, and contemplation, to keep an open mind, heart, and spirit. I draw my inspiration from many people whose insights arise from a diverse range of human endeavours, including Thich Nhat Hanh (Zen Buddhist Monk who won the Nobel Peace Prize), Alan Watts (philosopher and theologian), Carl Sagan, Jane Goodall, David Suzuki, Elaine Pagels, and a great many other astute individuals. I think your message has certainly highlighted many relevant and important aspects of understanding and I thank you again for your insightful comment. - Sarina

  18. When I first read this quote I knew Einstein did not make this quote, he did not speak that way. There are many mis-quotes that people say Einstein made that he did not make. One of the biggest mis-quotes is "Reality is merely an illusion albeit a persistant one." Einstein said "TIME is merely an illusion albeit a persistant one." The wonderful thing about quantum physics is that it is proving many spiritual beliefs. A great movie is "What the Bleep" which shows this very well.

    2. Hello Caroline and Sarina - I was struck and inspired by the ACTUAL Einstein quote you both articulated - where he said: "TIME is merely an illusion, albeit a persistent one." Caroline, the quote you mentioned as fraudulent - is: "REALITY is merely an illusion, albeit a persistent one." Caroline, I must say that the MISQUOTED statement is an enchanting EXPANSION of Einstein's actual statement, perhaps because three-dimensional LINEAR "TIME" is in FACT our reality, hence one could extrapolate and say that "REALITY is merely an ILLUSION...etc..."
I hope I'm making some sense in my articulation on this blog format. In any case, this discussion is very real and compelling, yet beautifully mysterious. Kindest, Michael Bayard

    3. Hello Michael, So sorry for the extreme lateness of a reply to your comment on Einstein. Somehow your comment didn't arrive in my inbox so I only found it today while searching through comments on my blog. Your comment is fascinating and certainly gives the whole debate another dimension. If possible, could you cite your source for this quote as I couldn't find it online and certainly would love to read more about what Einstein said in relation to this concept. Thanks for your valuable contribution to this discussion. - kind regards, Sarina
